Learning to Knit (videos, charts, instructions)

  • Knitting at Knoon is a sentimental favorite.  My second project called for the Kitchner Stitch and this is where I learned it.  I didn't find out until later that that was supposed to be a 'hard' stitch.  lol.  When you click on a link, there is a little "play video" link with the instructions.
  • KnittingHelp.com has a great assortment of knitting videos for beginning & intermediate knitters.
  • Stitch guide has videos for all types of needlecraft.
  • Toss those double pointed needles.  Here are techniques for knitting with two and even one circular needle instead for those small circumferences.
  • knitty is by far my favorite knitting site.  Well written patterns (all free), tons of great knitting articles and theory, and an active discussion forum.
  • dyinet.com has a whole list of knitting related links.  There are tons of good videos (look for the phrase "WINDOWS MEDIA VIDEOS") here for those of us who have to see it to understand what is going on.
  • Daily Knitter is a well organized, comprehensive resource for knitting
  • Knitting Fool will be well appreciated by geeky knitters.  Pattern generators based on mathematical formulas and seriously well organized stitch guides.
  • The Knitting Fiend blog has some good stitch pattern instructions with pictures, how to pages, pattern generators (including a standard sizes pages), and calculators.
  • Sweaterscape has a nice page of knitting lessons some with pictures, some not.
  • Vogue Knitting has some 'learn to knit' and other helpful pages.
  • Erica Lee Beginning Knitting has a nice page of helpful advice.  Includes some corrections I don't see other places.
